With the Israelites safe on dry land

Miriam took a timbrel in her hand.

Long before, she had foreseen

the need to have a tambourine,

for just such a triumphant moment.

Every woman had an instrument

ready to use in song and dance

precisely for this circumstance.

She knew G-d would perform mighty acts

to overcome obstacles and setbacks,

leaving Egypt in such haste

and the dangers that they faced.

But through it all, her faith was steady

Therefore these items were ready

to praise G-d with joy and reverence

and the women followed her in dance.
